The Cyber-Anarchism Manifesto

What the Internet Is Meant to Be

Intro

The internet was supposed to be revolutionnary, it was supposed to make information and knowledge more accessible. But now? It's more of a money machine, especially for companies. Apps like tiktok use an algorithm and psychology to make you doomscroll for hours. And Youtube? Not a fun video sharing app. But a video platform with a complex algorithm that will not recommend your video to other users for shitty reasons like the description of your video being too short and other nonsense. It is not normal that the internet, who was a fun place, became a place that shortens your attention span for money. Internet is'nt meant to be a money machine, internet is NOT for sale! But when there is a problem, there is a solution, and i may have the solution to that problem. It's called CYBER-ANARCHISM.

Cyber-Anarchism

First of all, look at the name : Cyber-Anarchism. "Cyber": relating to or characteristic of the culture of computers, the internet, and virtual reality. And "Anarchism" : a political theory advocating the abolition of hierarchical government and the organization of society on a voluntary, cooperative basis without recourse to force or compulsion. Now you have a simple idea of what Cyber-Anarchism is : An ideology about Internet having no hierarchy, no owner, and being a community about voluntarism and cooperation. But it's a bit deeper than just that, let's dive into it!

1. Personal Spaces

Everyone has their own personal space on the internet = their own website. Your website is your personal space, you can do anything on it, it belongs to you. If you want to ban someone from it, you can! It's like your home but in the WWW! It can be a wiki, a blog, a forum, a flash game, anything you want! If someone doesn't have one, except if he wants one, people will help the creation of it.

2. No more age verification for everything

The UK Governement ask almost EVERY websites to make users verify their age by sending their ID or sending a picture of their face, for example : Imgur is now blocked in the UK. And in France, the country where i live, in September 2026, social networks will be blocked for teenagers under 15 year olds. This laws doesn't do anything except blocking useful websites, because kids will just go in their parents or older sibling phone, or just install a VPN, they are useless. Because by blocking websites, users will just bypass by using less safer ways, so theses laws, that are for "safety purposes", they do the opposite of what they are supposed to do. In a cyber-anarchist internet, this doesn't exist, because like i said before, it is useless.

3. Return of anonymity on the internet

Anonymity does'nt exist anymore, well it does, but it is very hard and you are never going to be 100% anonymous. It existed during the old days of the internet, but governments started adding laws to kill it. Cyber-anarchism brings it back, so you can share your opinion without people doxxing you or doing bad things to you...

4. Decentralized Regulation

In Cyber-anarchism, illegal or dangerous content is unallowed. But not with moderation or laws, since there is "anarchism" in the name. Instead, people who shares dangerous content will just be ignored, excluded, and will be banned from a lot of website if they get caught. Cyber-anarchism is about cooperation.

5. Shared Infrastructure (Optional)

If the IRL society allows it, server or website hosting could be free. But it depends on the ideology of the governements, in capitalism for exemple : no. If it is socialism or communism : maybe.

What This Leads To

Cyber-anarchism is the way to the return of the golden era of the internet. Everyone will have their own personal website, with their own personnality expressed in it, more fun websites will be created. Cooperation and voluntarism will be part of internet's values. More creativity, like i said before. This reminds me of the 2000s/early 2010s internet, raw websites, chaotic memes, everyone having a cool website or myspace page. Cyber-anarchism leads to this, and the death of evil algorithms on social networks.

Final Note

Cyber-anarchism can exist, we just need to make it exist. Talk about it, share it, protest for it, write about it,if you can, vote laws that are similar to it, spread information about it!Join the revolution of Cyber-Anarchism! Because we, cyber-anarchists, care about the internet, and will make our voices heard!
